Voting Resources

The Democratic Party believes in free and fair elections, where participation by all citizens is welcomed and encouraged. Here is a compilation of resources the voters of Bastrop County will find useful.

If you have moved, will be turning 18 soon, or recently gained citizenship, you must register in order to be allowed to vote. There are several ways to register.

  • Several BCDP volunteer deputy registrars (VDRs) in BCDP can walk you through the whole process. Phone us at 512-549-3014 to get in touch with one of them.
  • The Bastrop County Elections Department website has a wealth of information for voters. You can check to see if you are registered, download an application, learn about acceptable forms of identification, and much more.
  • You can register in person with the Bastrop County Elections Department. They’re in the Bastrop County Courthouse Annex, 804 Pecan Street in Bastrop. Phone is 512-581-7160.
  • Register2Vote.org. It doesn’t get any easier than this.

We are officially neutral

The purpose of the Bastrop County Democratic Party (BCDP), acting by and through the County Executive Committee (CEC), is to carry out the national and Texas Democratic Party’s principles, policies, and platforms at the county level. In addition, its purpose is to educate and inform Bastrop County voters about the Democratic candidates/nominees running for office in local, district, and statewide offices.

As such, it is the policy of BCDP or its officers, in an official capacity, not to endorse, promote, or favor one Democratic candidate over another. As a party, we support all Democrats in an effort to help elect the best representation for Bastrop County and Texas.

At the same time, the party supports the right of individuals to support any candidate as long as they are not acting in an official capacity.

“I believe in active citizenship, for men and women equally, as a simple matter of right and justice. I believe we will have better government in all of our countries when men and women discuss public issues together and make their decisions on the basis of their different areas of experience and their common concern for the welfare of their families and their world.”

– Eleanor Roosevelt

“We do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.”
