One of the easiest ways to get involved is spending time with like-minded people. Several Democrat groups in Bastrop County meet regularly. Some are strongly activist. Some are strictly social. Some have specific interests. Some support specific candidates. One of them is sure to be your niche.
BCDP Women’s Luncheon meets each month at 1:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday at various luncheries around the county. We often have guest speakers, especially during election season. Smithville Lady Dems meet for dinner on first Fridays, just to hang out with like-minded folk. Sometimes our conversations do stray into political territory, not gonna lie. Liberals Dining and Drinking (LDD) is a social group that meets weekly for conversation and camaraderie. Most meetings are on Thursday evenings at 6:30 at various locations. The one exception is the second week each month, when the group meets at 5:30 on Wednesday at Leo’s Italian Grill, where after dinner they can sing (or watch) karaoke. embraces our LGBTQ community. We meet each month on the second Tuesday at The 602 On Main, 919 Main St., Bastrop. Meetings start at 7:00 p.m. We also meet each month for our community service project to Keep Bastrop County Beautiful. Persisterhood of Bastrop County meets for dinner on the third Wednesday of the month (except December) beginning at 5:30. Location varies monthly. We are an oasis of friendship and support. We are not an action group; all of us belong to other groups that are. Our dinner conversations are diverse and always interesting. For now, we are only open to women.
