Effective March 25, 2020, Bastrop County Elections Department will no longer be holding in-person volunteer deputy registrar (VDR) training. All training will be completed on line and the applicant will be required to take an examination to become a VDR.
Volunteer deputy registrars are entrusted with the responsibility of officially registering voters in the State of Texas. They are appointed by county voter registrars and charged with helping increase voter registration in the state.
If you wish to become a volunteer deputy registrar, you must complete the online training provided below and appear in person at the Bastrop County Elections Department to take the required examination. Once you have reviewed the training material below, please contact the Bastrop County Elections Department at 512-581-7160 to schedule your examination.

If a volunteer deputy registrar has already been trained and appointed in another county during the current appointment cycle, he/she does not have to complete the examination in Bastrop County. VDRs already trained in other counties should contact the Bastrop County Elections Department at 512-581-7160 to schedule an appointment to become deputized in Bastrop County.
