Two Bastrop County Democrats speak up on the race for U.S. House District 27.
Vote for Charlie Jackson in Texas Congressional District 27
One thing I find most difficult about our elections process is understanding who candidates are and for what they stand. As a volunteer deputy registrar, it’s one of the top complaints I hear. I vowed long ago to look up candidates, so I can make choices that fit my values and priorities. The good news is Texas Democrats have an excellent candidate for U.S. House District 27 in Charlie Jackson.
Charlie is a native Texan and businessman. He’s an advocate for small business and working families and seeks to improve health care for women and services for veterans. He will get my vote.
But imagine my surprise to find what appears to be an imposter candidate for U.S. House District 27 in Texas, Democratic candidate Ricardo “Ricky” De La Fuente. I was confused by what I read about him, so I dug deeper.
He lost in a primary run for Congress in Florida in 2018. Now he’s running for Congress in California’s 21st District at the same time he’s running in Texas’ District 27. In the same primary race in California, Ricky’s father, Roque, is running as a Republican.
Roque has made other attempts at office as well. This father-son duo hails from San Diego, and they don’t appear to live in the districts of their attempts at congressional office.
I don’t know what these guys are up to, but Texans won’t stand for this. Charlie Jackson will run a fair race and will be an excellent representative for Texans.
Thanks,
Amy Fariss

Candidate is running for Congress in two states
Voters who live in U.S. House District 27 in Texas (from part of Bastrop County to Corpus Christi) need to know there is a fake candidate on the March 3 Democratic primary ballot. His name is Ricardo “Ricky” De La Fuente. He is a fake because online records show he was born and lives in Southern California. He also is on the primary ballot in California as a candidate for California’s 21st Congressional District.
De La Fuente also ran and lost in a California special election and primary in two other California congressional districts in 2017 and 2018. Also, in 2018 he ran and lost in the Democratic primary in Florida’s 24th Congressional District.
Do District 27 Democrats in Texas really want to vote for a serial candidate who is trying to abuse one of the most important rights we have – the right to vote – by running for Congress simultaneously in two states?
Fortunately, Democratic primary voters have an excellent alternative on the ballot for U.S. House District 27. His name is Charlie Jackson, a businessman and entrepreneur born in Texas. When Democrats go to the polls on March 3, please vote for Charlie Jackson and send De La Fuente a clear message that we don’t like carpetbaggers in Texas.
