The dog days may be upon us, but we can’t afford to lay down and rest. It’s time to start cranking up ourCoordinated Campaign for the entire Democratic ticket in Bastrop County!
We’ll meet next Monday night, July 2nd 7 pm at the Kerr Center (1308 Walnut St. in Bastrop, 78602). Come learn how a coordinated campaign works, and how you can help by registering voters, volunteering at community events, making phone calls and working with a team to get out the Democratic vote this November.
All Candidates, precinct chairs, and any Democrats interested in getting involved should come to these meetings, which are as always open to the public. For the next 2 months, we’ll meet on the 1st & 3rd Mondays to plan, prepare and execute a campaign for the fall.
Republicans will be counting on unprecedented spending by corporate PACs and wealthy donors, running expensive mass media to motivate their voters. We must use our positive energy, sweat equity and shoe leather – working smarter and more efficiently, engaging directly with voters to make our case. This means our campaign must be built and carried out by actual PEOPLE – not Mitt Romney’s idea of “people”, but actual folks like YOU, who have worked for a living and understand what working families are up against. We need YOU to step up and take a leadership role to help bring responsible governance back to our country, our state and to our county. The stakes are too high to sit this one out, folks.
Of course, no winning campaign has ever popped up out of thin air. Plans must be laid; the pieces must be cut, shaped, put in place and bolted together. Now is when that work gets done. With your ideas and knowledge of your community to help shape our plan of action, I believe we can build something unprecedented in Bastrop County – something they say can’t be done in Texas: a real grassroots progressive campaign that builds the Democratic base and elects responsive and effective Democratic candidates to office.
As always: Bring a friend or a neighbor & help spread the word that there is a real, live Democratic Party in Bastrop County!
