July Primary Runoff Results for Bastrop County

by secretary on August 5, 2012

Congratulations to our nominees: Paul Sadler, Rose Meza-Harrison, and Michael Flowers, who all triumphed in their primary runoff races on July 31, 2012.
Mr. Sadler is now the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, beating his opponent almost 2-1. In a tremendous opportunity for Democrats, he will face Tea Party extremist Ted Cruz, who won the Republican runoff against Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.
Ms. Meza-Harrison won her spot on the ticket for U.S. Congress District 27 by defeating Jerry Trevino, 60%-40%. She will take on Republican Blake “Ducky Pajamas” Farenthold in November.
In Precinct 4 (Elgin-McDade), Michael Flowers defeated Liston Crim, 410 to 247, and will face Republican Bubba Snowden in November for Precinct 4 County Commissioner.
With our slate of candidates now complete, we’ve already turned our attention to the fall campaign and the work it will take to get Democrats elected up and down the ballot. Much is at stake in this election: the future of our public schools, creating good jobs, wise use of public resources and infrastructure – the very foundations of a strong middle class. We hope you’ll join our efforts to support responsible government for Bastrop County and Texas.
